          Great Blacks in Wax [exhibits]

 - The possibility that in 1988 we would be celebrating the grand opening of a 10,000 square foot facility on North
Avenue seemed almost unimaginable. But we always knew that a higher power than the two of us was guiding this
effort. So we have always dared to dream, to believe that if we just "keep the faith", things would work out.

 - The Shot Tower, a monumental structure rising well above all others in
the neighborhood, has looked out like a sentry over the changing landscape
of the Monumental City for nearly two hundred years. It is an enduring
monument to workmanship and to Baltimore's industrial past, and it is
rising once again as a point of interest to residents and visitors alike.

          The Star-Spangled Banner House

 - The Star-Spangled Banner Flag House is one
of Baltimore's oldest museums. Founded in
1927, the Flag House has been open to the
public for 74 years. The Star-Spangled Banner
Flag House Association, Inc. was formed in
1927 to operate a museum dedicated to the
story of Mary Young Pickersgill who made the
                                       enormous 30 x 42-foot Star-Spangled Banner
that flew over Fort McHenry during the War
of 1812 and inspired Francis Scott Key to
write the poem that became our National
Anthem. Mary Pickersgill's flag still survives
and now hangs at the Smithsonian
                                       Institution's National Museum of American
